Scott Named Sigma Chi National Advisor of the Year

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Student Development Office Program Director Tracy Scott was presented with the Sigma Chi International Fraternity Stegemeier Faculty Advisor Award recently.
The award pays tribute to the fraternity's most outstanding faculty advisor nationwide.

Fraternity joins federal lawsuit protesting school’s single-sex organization policy
In a historic move, Sigma Chi International Fraternity, along with other Greek-letter organizations and plaintiffs, filed parallel lawsuits against Harvard University in federal and state courts in response to the school’s policy blacklisting students who choose to join single-sex organizations, regardless of whether those organizations are recognized by Harvard.

Three Western Illinois University chapters of the Interfraternity Council hung banners from their houses Thursday to stand with rape and sexual assault victims.
Sigma Chi, Alpha Gamma Rho and Pi Kappa Phi all hung bed sheet banners highlighting the importance of getting consent before performing any types of sexual activity.
“The idea behind the banners came from other fraternities across the country that also showed support for sexual assault victims,” Matthew Hutchison, Vice President of Internal Relations said. “With Take Back the Night being such a huge event at Western, we wanted the IFC community to show our support for an event that has a very powerful impact on those affected by sexual assault.”

On the Merlin Olsen Day of Service as designated by the Sigma Chi Fraternity where we honor brother Olsen and his service for the community. Our brothers along with some of this semesters pledges took part in a street this morning clean prior to Family Day at Western Illinois University

As of Oct. 4, 2018, we are officially the new residents of 830 N Avery Street! Your House Corp has been working toward this for some time, with more than one speedbump along the way, but we now own a newer property with 15 bedrooms, a grad-student suite, 4 floors, a basketball court, and a large enough deck to comfortably accommodate the entire chapter. Best of all: the property allows for a better financial model than 611 (all those bedrooms). The undergraduates will move into the new house this Spring, and 611 W. Adams will be sold - most likely to a younger fraternity.
Now, we need to get 830 N Avery move-in ready. To that end, we are calling on all alumni to give your time and money in the following ways:

All alumni and undergraduates are invited to a gathering at West Dublin Pub in Peoria, IL at 6:30pm on September 13th. This is a great opportunity to learn about and discuss our upcoming purchase of a new chapter house at WIU.
